Highley Parish Council and the Highley Environmental & LNRS Group were pleased to host the National Climate Emergency Briefing screening at the Severn Centre last night. The event brought together residents from Highley and beyond to learn more about the climate and nature emergency, the national picture, and the actions communities can take locally.
The screening formed part of a nationwide initiative to help communities understand the scale of environmental challenges facing the UK, including extreme weather impacts, biodiversity loss, and the pressures placed on local infrastructure and services. The briefing also highlighted the importance of evidence‑based planning, resilience, and community‑led action.
We were delighted to welcome a strong turnout, including attendees who travelled from Worcester and Ludlow, demonstrating the wider interest in these issues. A special thank you goes to Alistair, who spoke to the audience and kindly provided refreshments that were very much appreciated.
The Parish Council would also like to thank the volunteers and members of the Environmental & LNRS Group whose time, organisation, and commitment made the event possible. Community events like this rely on dedicated people working behind the scenes, and their efforts ensured a smooth and informative evening.
