FOUR JUDGES - TEN DAYS starting from 22/6/26 - Clerk to collate points awarded by individual
judges (in your own time) Please wear identity badges when judging - all entries will be visible from public places and there is no need to enter private properties.

Judging Criteria – Highley in Bloom 2026

1. Best Kept Planter

Suggested scoring: 0–5 points per category

•     Overall Health & Vigor

Condition of plants, signs of good care, no disease or die‑back.

•     Colour & Seasonal Interest

Variety of colours, good use of seasonal plants, visual impact.

•     Design & Creativity

Arrangement, balance, originality, and thoughtful planting.

•     Maintenance & Tidiness

Weed control, clean edges, no debris, well‑kept container.

•     Use of Space

Effective planting density, good mix of heights/textures.

2. Best Hanging Basket

Suggested scoring: 0–5 points per category

•     Fullness & Shape

Even, rounded shape with good trailing and upright balance.

•     Flowering Performance

Abundance of blooms, healthy foliage, strong colour.

•     Creativity & Plant Choice

Interesting combinations, complementary colours, thoughtful design.

•     Condition & Care

No deadheading needed, no wilt, no pests, well‑watered.

•     Visibility & Impact

Basket clearly visible from public space and adds to street scene.

3. Best Allotment Plot

Suggested scoring: 0–5 points per category

•     Cultivation & Productivity

Evidence of regular work, healthy crops, good use of space.

•     Weed Control & Tidiness

Clear paths, minimal weeds, organised layout.

•     Environmental Practices

Composting, water‑saving, wildlife‑friendly features, recycling.

•     Plot Management

Safe storage, tidy boundaries, well‑maintained structures.

•     Overall Presentation

Visual appeal, pride in the plot, creativity or personal touches.

Speaking at a Meeting - You do not have the right to speak at a meeting unless invited to do so by the Council.  If you wish to speak then you must contact the Clerk beforehand or make yourself known to the Clerk at the start of the meeting.
